Weekend project planner
- 110 jobs to pick from
- One shopping list
- Weekend forecast
Pick a job or two to start your plan.
How it works
Each job carries its time, cost, tools and supplies from its guide, plus a few flags we set by hand: needs drying time, needs the water off, and outdoor.
Order: jobs that need to dry or cure go first, so they're ready while you work. Jobs that need the water shut off go back to back. Outdoor jobs move to the weekend day with the lowest chance of rain in the National Weather Service forecast, if you add a ZIP. Everything else fills in, harder jobs first while you're fresh.
Timing: each job gets its middle time estimate plus a 10-minute buffer. The plan starts at 9:00, breaks for lunch around noon, and rolls to Sunday after about 5:00.
Shopping list: every tool and supply from the chosen guides, with repeats merged and tools you own left off.
Pick jobs for me starts with what's left on this month's Punch List, then other recurring upkeep, skips anything your My House answers rule out and high-risk jobs, avoids outdoor work on a wet weekend, and fills about 85% of your hours without going over your budget.
About this tool
Who it's for
For anyone with a list of small jobs and one weekend to do them.
Example
You enterRecaulk the tub, fix a running toilet, clean the gutters, change the filter
You getFriday: one store run. Saturday: caulk first so it cures, then the toilet, gutters on the drier afternoon. Sunday: the filter.
What's different
- Builds one shopping list with no repeats, and leaves off tools you already own.
- Puts drying jobs first and groups the ones that need the water off.
- Moves outdoor jobs to the drier day when you add a ZIP, and can pick jobs for you by hours and budget.
Gotchas and tips
- Times are hands-on estimates; add a buffer for cleanup and surprises.
- Check the shopping list against what's in the garage before you go.
- Curing times on caulk and patch compound are minimums; the label wins.
Privacy: Your picks and tools are saved on this device only. If you add a ZIP, it's sent to our server to fetch the National Weather Service forecast, and nothing else.

Weekend project planner questions
How many projects can I do in a weekend?
Plan on about five or six hours of actual work a day, less if you're new to it. Store runs, cleanup and the job that fights back always take longer than the estimate.
Which job should I do first?
Start anything that needs to dry, cure or soak, like caulk, patching compound or a vinegar soak, so it's ready while you work on the rest.
Why one shopping list?
Most weekend plans die on the third trip to the hardware store. Listing every part and tool up front, minus what you already own, gets it down to one.
